Empowering people with coaching

In order to be a good leader, a manager must be a good coach. Managing is truly about coaching, not about telling people their goals. People generally know what company goals are. It’s about finding out what motivates a person and helping them discover how to get there. Coaching is the art of asking the right questions to help people discover where they are now versus where they want to be, the obstacles, if any and how to overcome them. To further get their buy-in, they become emotionally connected when we also ask what the impact of staying where they are now versus being where they want to be would have on their lives. Successful coaching is all about making people feel valued and important by focusing totally on them, removing all distractions including electronic devices and being an active listener.
