Remember When….

It’s amazing when you look back at all of things that you have accomplished since you’ve started your business. Are you where you want to be yet? Maybe not. Are you pleased that you took the leap and that you’re still in business? Hell yeah! Are you still beating yourself up about the goals that you have not accomplished and the long list of tasks that still need to be tackled? Yep! Instead of drowning in the bathtub of boo-hoo’s, let’s soak in the great milestones and memories that you have created thus far.

Remember when……

You decided to start your business, you felt excited, passionate and ecstatic to be on the right track (finally). Take a moment to pat yourself on the back and celebrate! You’re still in business and you’re making enormous strides to build the vision that is your company. As business owners we manage to overlook the fact that our businesses live to see another day and that is a HUGE realization in itself. Forget about bottom line, the overhead and the payroll. Focus on the bigger picture you are an entrepreneur and not many people are cut out for this road. You have chosen to take the next steps to construct the life that you want! Congratulations!

Remember when……

You signed that first client. You thought to yourself, “Did someone actually just pay me to do something I love?” The answer is YES! This should remind you that you are working towards building your business and someone actually believes in you, your product and/or your service. Maybe you haven’t signed a new client in the past few weeks or months, but you still have clients, right? Celebrate them and celebrate that!

Remember when……

You received your first business spotlight article, magazine write-up or feature story on the news about you and your business! These are the milestones that you should recall. When those feelings of failure or insecurity arise, remember when you were front and center in that article and how honorable it felt. As entrepreneurs we constantly feel like we must be achieving more, or that we aren’t making enough money or when is this going to finally pay off. When you are recognized for a job well done, that’s awesome! Take that article or story, frame it and hang it to create a constant reminder that you are on the right path!

Entrepreneurship is a choice. I’d like to share one of my favorite quotes that gets me through the challenging times: Every worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph: a beginning, a struggle and a victory.” – Mahatma Gandhi, Spiritual Leader
